Student Art Exhibition to be displayed at Harn Museum of Art

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Visitors to the Harn Museum of Art from Friday, April 25, to Sunday, May 18, will have the privilege of viewing artwork by elementary, middle-school and high school students from Alachua County Public Schools.

The young artists gained their inspiration by touring the museum and exhibitions with their classes. They then used the experience as motivation to create works of art with their art teachers in each school using curriculum resources developed at the Harn. The tours, resources and children's exhibition are all part of the Harn's School and Educator Programs.

On April 24 at 7 p.m., an awards ceremony and reception will be held to honor and recognize the students, their teachers and families.

Florida Capital Bank, sponsor of the event and exhibition, will select several of the student works to display in the bank after the exhibition closes. The bank is the first company in Gainesville to hold such a partnership with the museum.

Partial funding for school visits to the Harn Museum of Art is provided by the School Board of Alachua County, through an Arts in Education grant from the State of Florida, Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Arts Council.
